Police have apprehended a madrasa teacher, identified as Md Hossain Ahmed, on charges of repeatedly sodomising a 13-year-old student in Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
The incident took place at around 5pm on Sunday at Baitul Fazl Madrasa on Nurjahan Road in Mohammadpur.
Confirming the detention, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohammadpur Police Station Md Abdul Halim said they received an allegation of sodomy against a madrasa teacher involving a young boy.
Upon receiving the information, police rushed to the scene, detained the teacher, and brought him to the police station. Legal action regarding the complaint is currently being processed.
According to local sources, the 13-year-old victim was a Quran student at the institution who took daily afternoon lessons from the accused along with other pupils.
During these lessons, the teacher reportedly took the boy to his personal room under various pretexts and sodomised him on multiple occasions. The most recent incident occurred on 2 September.
The victim subsequently disclosed the matter to his parents. Upon being informed, the parents, along with local residents, went to the madrasa and confined the accused teacher.
Following reports of the situation, a team from Mohammadpur Police Station arrived at the scene, took the accused teacher into custody.
