Popular West Bengal actress Madhumita Sarcar is set to make her debut in Bangladeshi cinema with director MD Iqbal’s upcoming film Gulshaner Chameli.

The actress expressed her excitement after attending the film’s official launch ceremony at a five-star hotel in Dhaka on Saturday.

Speaking at the event, Madhumita said she was overwhelmed by the warm welcome she had received in Bangladesh.

“I am deeply touched by the love I have received here. Making my debut in Dhallywood surrounded by so many talented people and standing before so many cameras is a wonderful feeling. I could not have asked for a better beginning,” she said.

She added, “We have started this journey with great energy and enthusiasm, and I hope the film will turn out to be something special. I am grateful to the team for giving me the opportunity to be part of this project.”

The mahurat ceremony officially marked the beginning of Gulshaner Chameli, which will introduce Madhumita to Bangladeshi audiences for the first time.

The actress is expected to play the central character in the film.

Madhumita arrived in Dhaka on Saturday morning with her husband, Debmalya Chakraborty, ahead of the launch event.

Gulshaner Chameli centres on the life and struggles of a sex worker.

According to the makers, the film will feature a cast comprising prominent actors from both Bangladesh and India.

The confirmed cast includes Omar Sani, Amin Khan, Ashish Khandaker, veteran actress Rozina, and National Film Award-winning actress Azmeri Haque Badhan, who will play a key role.

The filmmakers said the release date will be announced after production and post-production are completed.
