A family dispute claimed the life of a young man in Kalikini Upazila, Madaripur, on Thursday evening.
Md Sajeeb Akon, 24, hanged himself at his home in Purbochar Kayaria village of Kayaria Union.
Sajeeb was the son of Kayaria Union woman councillor Kahinur Begum and Jahangir Akon.
Police recovered his body after being informed of the incident.
Family and police sources said Sajeeb had been in conflict with his relatives for some time.
On Thursday evening, he was alone in the living room when he tied a rope to a fan and ended his life.
Kalikini police officer-in-charge (OC) Mohd Jahirul Alam told The TIMES of Bangladesh that the body had been recovered.
“Preliminary investigation suggests it is a case of suicide. Authorities are investigating to determine the exact cause,” he said.
