Bangladesh captain Litton Das said he and the national selectors have resolved their differences after a public dispute over squad decisions ahead of the T20 series against Ireland.
Before the series, Litton caused a stir by claiming his input had not been sought during squad selection. The chief selector denied that allegation and said discussions with the captain had taken place. Litton had pushed for the inclusion of Shamim Hossain Patwary, but the selectors left him out of the squad for the first two matches. Shamim was added after the second game and included in the XI for the finale, although Mahidul Islam Ankon, brought in as an alternative, did not feature in any match.
Bangladesh overcame the off field noise to win the series 2–1, recovering from an initial defeat to claim back to back victories. Litton said frank conversations with the board after the series helped clear the air. “In the heat of the moment a lot of things can happen. It happened on both sides,” he said. “But what happened was not good, not good for cricket. This will not happen again. We sat down calmly afterwards and reached a good solution.”
Litton insisted the external debate never unsettled the dressing room. He said Bangladesh struggled under pressure in the first match but handled key moments well in the remaining two contests, crediting the fielding unit for its role in the turnaround. “No, I do not think it had any impact inside the team,” he said. “Everything was normal. Since we are professional cricketers, when we go on the field we only play cricket, so from that side we had no issues.”
