Shimanto Bank holds 10th AGM, profit up 6.08%

Shimanto Bank PLC’s investments grew 41.08 per cent while loans rose 23.37 per cent and assets increased to TK4,149.91 with growth of 25.70 per cent.

 

Deposit was booked to TK3,276.12 crore with growth of 29.21 per cent on the same period. The bank’s capital adequacy was 25.07 per cent against the regulatory requirement minimum 12.5 per cent, said a press release.

These figures were presented by Border Guard Bangladesh Director General and Shimanto Bank Chairman Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui at the bank’s 10th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday at Shahid Captain Ashraf Hall at HQ BGB, Peelkhana.

Siddiqui presided over the meeting. In his welcome speech, he presented some actions and progress of the decisions taken by Shimanto Bank PLC for the welfare of the members of Border Guard Bangladesh.

He said the bank’s operating profit increased by 6.08 per cent in 2025. He informed the shareholders about the initiatives taken for opening of Islami Banking Window and Agent Banking. He said Shimanto Bank will go for Initial Public Offer (IPO) by 2028 on evaluating the overall financial situation of the bank, the press release said.

The Director’s Report and Auditor’s Report were approved. Directors were elected and the Auditor was appointed in the General Meeting, said a press release.

Shimanto Bank Managing Director and CEO Md Nurul Azim said the paid up capital of the bank increased to TK525 crore today, starting with the capital of TK400 crore in 2016. He assured the shareholders that the bank will be committed to achieving its goals.

With the combination of the right direction of the Board of Directors and skills of the Management, the bank will achieve its goals and objectives. He expressed gratitude to the Board of Directors, shareholders, customers, Border Guard Bangladesh and all regulators including Bangladesh Bank for their confidence and support.

The shareholders, Directors, Senior Officers of BGB and the bank and other stakeholder of the bank were present at the AGM. Shimanto Bank Company Secretary Hossain Suman FCS moderated the AGM.
