Bangladesh has introduced person-to-person (P2P) money transfers through Bangla QR, allowing individuals to send money by scanning a recipient’s QR code.

The service, launched on Sunday, removes the need to manually enter a recipient’s mobile phone or account number when transferring funds.

Under the new system, users can scan the recipient’s QR code, verify the displayed information and complete the transaction.

The process eliminates a manual step in digital money transfers, particularly where users would otherwise need to enter account or mobile numbers to identify recipients.

According to Bangladesh Bank, the service aims to reduce reliance on cash in everyday transactions and encourage wider adoption of digital payments.

The introduction of P2P transfers through Bangla QR also provides an opportunity to expand cashless transactions within Bangladesh’s payment infrastructure by making digital transfers between individuals more convenient.
