BRAC Bank reported a 38 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Tk2,121 crore in the first nine months of 2026, supported by higher interest and fee-based income, stronger deposit growth and improved operating efficiency.
The private lender’s profit climbed from Tk1,536 crore in January–September 2025, while standalone net profit, excluding subsidiaries, jumped 50 per cent to Tk1,584 crore from Tk1,055 crore, according to financial results released on Thursday.
Consolidated earnings per share (EPS) rose 45.6 per cent to Tk7.70 from Tk5.29 in the corresponding period, reflecting stronger earnings attributable to shareholders.
The bank’s consolidated revenue increased 26 per cent year on year, driven by growth in interest income and non-funded income, which includes earnings from services that do not involve direct lending.
Profit grew faster than revenue as BRAC Bank reduced its cost-to-income ratio to 41 per cent from 46 per cent a year earlier. The ratio measures how much a bank spends to generate each Tk100 in operating income.
The improvement meant the bank spent Tk41 to earn Tk100, compared with Tk46 in the same period last year, reflecting stronger cost control and operating efficiency.
BRAC Bank also expanded its balance sheet, although deposits grew faster than lending.
Customer deposits increased 16 per cent from December 2025 to more than Tk1,03,091 crore at the end of September 2026, while loans and advances rose 7 per cent to Tk77,947 crore.
The combined deposit and lending portfolio exceeded Tk1,81,038 crore.
The difference in growth rates indicates that the bank attracted deposits faster than it expanded credit, against a backdrop of weak private-sector lending across the banking industry.
The bank reported growth across its corporate, small and medium enterprise (SME) and retail banking businesses, although it did not provide separate performance figures for the segments.
Asset quality remained stable. The non-performing loan (NPL) ratio stood at 2.27 per cent at the end of September, unchanged from December 2025.
The ratio measures the proportion of loans classified as non-performing, making it a key indicator of credit risk.
Consolidated return on equity reached 20.28 per cent, while return on assets stood at 1.65 per cent, reflecting profit generated relative to shareholders’ equity and the bank’s asset base.
Net asset value per share increased 25.8 per cent to Tk56.40 at the end of September from Tk44.84 in December 2025.
BRAC Bank Managing Director and CEO Tareq Refat Ullah Khan attributed the performance to its diversified business model, governance and disciplined execution.
“Continued customer confidence has enabled us to deliver growth well above the market while maintaining one of the industry’s strongest asset quality indicators,” he said.
Khan said the bank would continue focusing on sustainable growth, governance, innovation and customer service.
The results show that BRAC Bank expanded profitability more rapidly than both revenue and lending during the nine-month period, while keeping its reported non-performing loan ratio unchanged.
