Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday said the upcoming parliamentary election and referendum scheduled for February will be free, fair and festive, adding that the nation “will be proud” of the process.
He made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the National Defence Course and Armed Forces War Course held at Mirpur Cantonment.
Praising the armed forces, he highlighted their role in ensuring national security and responding to natural disasters, and said Bangladesh’s strategic geographical position continues to create significant opportunities.
Addressing the graduating officers, Yunus said the knowledge and experience gained at the National Defence College would contribute to national development, policy formulation and strategic decision-making.
He urged them to use their expertise to advance the country and safeguard national interests.
He said the National Defence College has established itself as a centre of excellence for security and development studies and is preparing capable leadership to confront national and global challenges in a rapidly changing international environment.
This year, 96 participants completed the National Defence Course, including 49 members of the armed forces, 18 from the civil administration and 29 from 18 friendly nations.
Another 56 officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force completed the Armed Forces War Course.
