Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has directed authorities concerned to accelerate the implementation of development projects under the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) to ensure timely completion and public welfare.
The instruction came during a review meeting on the implementation progress of ADP-listed projects under LGED for the 2025-26 fiscal year, held at the conference room of the Local Government Division at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
The minister, who attended the session as chief guest, stressed the need for maintaining work quality, proper cost management, and adhering to predetermined timelines.
“Development projects must be completed within the stipulated timeframe to fulfil public expectations,” Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said in his remarks.
He called upon concerned officials to perform their duties with responsibility and accountability.
The minister further emphasised that public welfare-oriented and sustainable projects should be undertaken through proper and transparent management of public funds.
“Ordinary people must directly benefit from development activities,” he instructed officials.
Local Government Division Secretary Md Shahidul Hasan presided over the meeting, which was attended by senior ministry officials and project directors of various ongoing LGED development projects, both in person and virtually.
