A group of people set fire to the office of the Senior District Election Officer in Kushtia on Saturday morning.
According to officials and employees, the attack was carried out through a window of the office building around 8:30am.
Upon receiving the news, Deputy Commissioner Iqbal Hossain reached the spot around 9:30am. He later held a meeting with officials and staff around 10am regarding the incident.
Election office security guard Razzak said, “I was on the second floor at the time. Smelling smoke, I came downstairs and saw the fire.”
Kushtia Superintendent of Police Mohammad Jasimuddin said they had inspected the scene along with the deputy commissioner. “We are investigating the incident,” he said.
