The operation, codenamed “Op Kutip,” started at around 7:20pm and involved a team of 25 immigration personnel, reports Bernama.

Director of Kuala Lumpur Immigration Wan Mohammed Saupee Wan Yusoff stated that they conducted random inspections of foreigners getting off the LRT service, as well as those at every corner of the street.

Authorities screened a total of 60 individuals during the operation. Of those, 31 were detained, comprising 28 men and three women, on grounds of various breaches of immigration law. 11 of them were from Bangladesh, followed by eight from India, seven from Pakistan, three from Indonesia and one each from Sudan and the Philippines.

He further said five of them were detained under Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for overstaying, while the rest were detained under Section 6(1)(c) of the same act for not possessing a valid pass or permit.

All individuals taken into custody have been transferred to the Bukit Jalil Immigration Depot in Kuala Lumpur for further investigation and processing.
