Kriti Sanon’s latest Raksha Bandhan advertisement has divided social media users, with the debate centring on both her festive outfit and a scene in which she ties a rakhi to her pet dog.
The jewellery brand campaign features Sanon celebrating Raksha Bandhan with her brother before tying a rakhi to her dog, presenting the animal as part of the family. The concept has drawn criticism from some viewers, while others have defended the actress and the message of companionship.
According to Hindustan Times, some social media users questioned Sanon’s deep V-neck blouse, arguing that the outfit was inappropriate for a traditional celebration involving a brother and sister. Others objected to the inclusion of the pet, claiming the advertisement gave the dog more prominence than the brother and hurt religious sentiments.
One user criticised Sanon’s outfit, writing, “First in my bloodline to see a woman tie Rakhi to his Brother while wearing a bra!! Which Sister will wear a dress with huge Cleavage visible while celebrating Rakhi in her family??”
Another user defended the actress, responding, “It’s not a bra idiot, stop doing faltu trolling just for engagement, and bring the spirit of Rakhi and bond of brother and sister in the name of defence.”
The pet segment also triggered sharp reactions. One user wrote, “Kuttapremi are mentally unhinged. It’s like a virus that’s spreading among people these folks need a vaccine.”
Others came to Sanon’s defence. One user wrote, “Awww offendians got offended? Spirit of Rakhi is not in outfits but in mindset, for me this outfit is completely ok but people who got rotten minds will find problem in this, the day they got to know the real outfits of what gods and goddesses used to wear these people will d1£.”
The contrasting reactions have turned the campaign into a wider online debate over festive traditions, personal expression and the place of pets within modern families.
