Daffodil International University (DIU) hosted its 17th Industry-Academia Lecture Series on Tuesday, 21 July 2026, at the International Conference Hall of Daffodil Smart City, featuring Professor Dr Md Ali Afzal, Founder of Krishibid Group Bangladesh (KGB), Group Managing Director of Krishibid Group Bangladesh and President of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB), as the keynote speaker.
The session, titled “Post-Harvest Technology in the Field of Good Food for All”, focused on post-harvest technology, food security, sustainable agriculture and strengthening collaboration between academia and industry, DIU said in a press release.
Professor Dr Ali Afzal highlighted the importance of effective post-harvest technologies, agricultural innovation, sustainable farming practices and reducing post-harvest losses in his keynote address. He said close cooperation between universities and industry was essential to develop skilled human resources capable of meeting the changing needs of Bangladesh’s agricultural sector.
“Integrity, hard work and innovative thinking are an entrepreneur’s greatest strengths. In today’s technology-driven world, young people have limitless opportunities. With determination, courage and consistent effort, they can become the successful entrepreneurs of tomorrow and contribute significantly to the nation’s progress,” he said.
The event also saw the signing of three separate Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Krishibid Group Bangladesh and three academic departments of DIU to expand industry-academia collaboration.
The agreements with the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Department of Real Estate and the Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering will support joint research, student internships, industry-linked projects, guest lectures, workshops and curriculum development initiatives.
Those attending the event included Professor Dr Mohammad Masum Iqbal, Pro-Vice Chancellor of DIU; Dr Mohammad Nadir Bin Ali, Registrar; Professor Dr S M Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Dean; Dr Amir Ahmed, Head of the Department of Real Estate; Dr Nizam Uddin, Head of the Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering; Dr Khandaker Moazzem Hossain, Head of the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology; Md Kamruzzaman, Head of the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Professor Dr Md Belal Hossain, Director of the Industrial Innovation Centre (IIC); and Monowarul Islam Rebel, Head of Industrial Linkage at the Career Development Center (CDC), along with faculty members, students and invited guests.
DIU said the Industry-Academia Lecture Series aims to provide students with direct interaction with industry professionals, entrepreneurs and researchers, helping them gain practical knowledge beyond classroom learning.
The latest edition also introduced a structured assessment framework to measure student participation and learning outcomes. Registered students later took part in an online assessment evaluating their understanding of the lecture, analytical ability, practical application of knowledge and originality.
The top ten performers received certificates of recognition and special discounts on selected courses offered by e-learning platform GoEdu.
DIU’s Career Development Center served as the strategic partner of the Industry-Academia Lecture Series, while GoEdu supported the programme as the e-learning partner.
