Kolkata actor Koel Mallick has officially stepped into politics, taking oath as a Rajya Sabha member from West Bengal on a Trinamool Congress ticket. Her entry into Parliament marks a new chapter in her public life beyond cinema.
She was sworn in alongside several prominent figures, including Babul Supriyo, Rajeev Kumar, Menaka Guruswamy and Rahul Sinha.
Koel later shared moments from her first day in Parliament on social media. For the ceremony, she wore a traditional white saree with a red border, complemented by understated jewellery and a red bindi. She took the oath in Bengali.
The actor was accompanied by her husband, producer Nispal Singh, and their son Kabir. Family members, including her parents, veteran actor Ranjit Mallick and Deepa Mallick, were also present.
On the professional front, Koel was last seen in ‘Mitin – Ekti Khunir Sandhaney’, directed by Arindam Sil, where she reprised her role as the popular detective Mitin Maashi.
