Oscar-winning actor Kate Winslet will star in and executive produce The Unheard, a five-episode limited series for Netflix, writes The Hollywood Reporter.

Jack Thorne, co-creator of Adolescence, has written the series, which will also star British actor Maxine Peake.

The story follows two sisters who go on the run after an act of vengeance goes wrong.

As they face a desperate pursuit, the series will explore what drove them to commit the act and whether they ever intended to escape its consequences.

Warp Films, Brad Pitt’s Plan B and Matriarch Productions will produce The Unheard. Mounia Akl will direct the series.

Winslet will serve as an executive producer alongside Mark Herbert and Emily Feller of Warp Films; Hannah Walters and Stephen Graham of Matriarch Productions; Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Nina Wolarsky of Plan B; and Thorne.

The production plans to begin filming in 2027.

Winslet has earned acclaim for films including Titanic, The Holiday, Heavenly Creatures, Revolutionary Road and Sense and Sensibility.

She has also received critical praise for her role in HBO’s Mare of Easttown and has recently appeared in Goodbye June, Avatar: The Way of Water and Avatar: Fire and Ash.

Peake is known for her work across stage and screen, including Shameless, the BBC legal drama Silk, Black Mirror and See No Evil: The Moors Murders.

She also earned attention earlier this year for her BAFTA-nominated performance in Kirk Jones’ I Swear, in which she appeared alongside Robert Aramayo.
