Pop star Charli XCX is set to make a cameo in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film What Happens at Night, joining Hollywood stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence in the Gothic psychological drama.
According to Variety, Charli’s role remains under wraps. The film, backed by Apple and StudioCanal, follows an American married couple who travel to a small European town to adopt a baby. As they struggle to bring the child home, they begin to understand less about themselves. Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson and Jared Harris also feature in the cast.
Representatives for Charli, Apple and StudioCanal did not immediately respond to Variety’s requests for comment.
The Brat singer has expanded her film career over the past two years, appearing in seven movies. These include The Moment, a mockumentary directed by her frequent collaborator Aidan Zamiri that satirises the commercial success of Brat.
Cinema also inspired her latest album, Music, Fashion, Film, whose cover features John Cale, Marc Jacobs and Scorsese to represent the three art forms. Charli is wrapping up the US leg of her tour, with its final show in Las Vegas on Friday, before heading to Europe in February.
What Happens at Night marks Scorsese’s first film since 2023’s Killers of the Flower Moon, which starred DiCaprio and earned 10 Oscar nominations, including best picture. The new film has no confirmed release date.
