The Arabic calligraphy of the Kalema Tayyeba has been installed on the high wall directly above the Speaker’s chair in the session hall of the Jatiya Sangsad.
Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon confirmed the development on Wednesday night.
He said the parliament building underwent renovation following the 2024 student–public mass uprising.
During the renovation, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman instructed the relevant authorities to place the calligraphy in the session hall.
Accordingly, the Arabic calligraphy of the Kalema Tayyeba — “La ilaha illallahu Muhammadur Rasulullah” — has been installed on the wall above the Speaker’s chair.
Rumon also said the prime minister worked from his office at the Parliament Secretariat on Wednesday.
This marked the first time Tarique Rahman has worked from the office of the Leader of the House since taking oath as prime minister.
Apart from carrying out his official duties from parliament, he attended a meeting of the BNP parliamentary party in the morning and chaired it as the Leader of the House.
The meeting discussed several issues, including preparations for the first session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, which is scheduled to begin on Thursday morning.
