Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian laid out several conditions for resolving the conflict with the United States and Israel. On Wednesday, he emphasised that while Tehran seeks peace in the region, it insists its rights must be respected.
Posting on X, Pezeshkian said that the dispute could only be settled if Iran’s “legitimate rights” are recognised, damages are compensated, and firm international guarantees are established to prevent future aggression.
Meanwhile, Iran’s military warned of a large-scale retaliation should the US strike Iranian ports. Armed forces spokesperson Abolfazl Shekarchi told state-run IRIB TV that no port, economic hub, or site in the Persian Gulf would be beyond Iran’s reach if Washington attacked its facilities.
This warning followed a message from US Central Command on its Persian-language X account, advising Iranian civilians to avoid port areas where naval operations were underway.
The latest tensions stem from joint US-Israeli strikes on February 28 that targeted Tehran and other Iranian cities, killing Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei along with senior commanders and civilians. In response, Iran launched a series of missile and drone attacks against Israeli and US-linked sites across the Middle East.
