Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad held a bilateral meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Hajj and Umrah Minister Dr Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah to strengthen services and cooperation for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.
The meeting took place at the King Salman International Convention Center in Madina on Monday. Officials said the discussion is expected to bring new momentum to services for Bangladeshi pilgrims.
During the meeting, the Bangladesh minister praised Saudi Arabia’s management of Hajj. He highlighted the progress made under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
He also commended the use of technology and modernisation in Hajj management and expressed Bangladesh’s gratitude to the Saudi government.
Recalling longstanding ties, the minister described Bangladesh-Saudi relations as cordial and fraternal, based on mutual trust and shared religious values.
He expressed optimism that under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, bilateral relations would reach new heights. He said cooperation in religious affairs, including Hajj and Umrah, as well as other areas of mutual interest, would further expand.
The Bangladesh minister also handed over a written proposal to his Saudi counterpart aimed at improving the welfare of Bangladeshi pilgrims.
Religious Affairs Secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad, Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohammad Delwar Hossain, Saudi Deputy Minister for Hajj and Umrah Dr Al-Hassan Al-Manakhra, Additional Secretary of the Hajj Subdivision Mohammad Ayatul Islam, Bangladesh Consul General in Jeddah Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain, Hajj Counsellor Mohammad Kamrul Islam, and other senior officials from both countries attended the meeting.
