Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam will serve as the acting Chief Justice from December 19 to 24 as Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed is scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

According to a notification issued by the Law and Justice Division, Justice Ashfaqul Islam will carry out the responsibilities of the Chief Justice during this period, or until Chief Justice Ahmed resumes his duties.

The notice, signed by Law and Justice Division Secretary Liaquet Ali Molla, added that Justice Ashfaqul Islam, the most senior judge of the Appellate Division, has received approval from the President to assume the role in line with Article 97 of the Constitution.
