Although the July Charter was finalised with consensus after lengthy discussions and debates, the AB Party fears that its implementation and the holding of the national election in February could be jeopardised due to the rigid stubbornness and errors of a few political parties.
This concern was expressed by the party’s Chairman, Mojibur Rahman Manju, during a special meeting of the National Executive Council held on Sunday.
The meeting took place at the AB Party’s central office this evening to discuss the party’s action plan for implementing the July Charter, preparations for the national election, and coalition formation. The special NEC meeting was chaired by AB Party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Manju.
He stated, “After the July mass uprising, national unity was most needed. However, the mutual distance and mudslinging among political parties are damaging the environment for national unity and political coexistence – which goes against the purpose of the July uprising. In this regard, the chief adviser’s steps are unclear.”
He urged Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus to take firm measures to protect national unity and eliminate political uncertainty. He remarked, “It is unfortunate that various opinions have emerged regarding the implementation method after consensus was reached on the July Charter.”
He reiterated AB Party’s stance that the July Charter should be implemented before the election and that the likely national election in February should be held based on the July Charter. He called on the public to remain vigilant to ensure that no actions disrupt the potential national election in February.
The meeting also expressed concern over the deterioration of law and order in the country. Attendees included AB Party Senior Vice-Chairman Professor Dr Major Abdul Wahab Minar, General Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, Vice-Chairmen Jahangir Kashem and Advocate Golam Faruq, Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Didarul Alam, Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Helal Uddin Ahmed, Joint General Secretary Barrister Zobayer Ahmed Bhuiyan, and other members of the National Executive Council.
