Tollywood actor Jr NTR underwent shoulder surgery at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Wednesday (12 August), after sustaining an injury while shooting for his upcoming film Dragon.

According to Hindustan Times, the actor’s team had earlier confirmed that he suffered the injury on the sets of the Prashanth Neel directorial towards the end of July.

Doctors had initially advised him to take six to eight weeks of complete rest.

According to a health bulletin issued by KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad, Jr NTR underwent arthroscopic surgery after consultations with a team of medical specialists.

“Mr. N.T.R recently sustained an unfortunate injury to his shoulder. Following close consultation and follow-up care with a dedicated team of medical specialists, it was determined that he would benefit from an arthroscopic surgery to facilitate a quicker and more complete recovery,” the hospital said.

The surgery was performed by a team of orthopaedic surgeons led by Dr R. A. Purnachandra Tejaswi, Dr Nithin Bejjanki, Dr Madhusudan Rao and Dr Srinivas Rao Surapaneni.

The hospital confirmed that the procedure was successful and that the actor is doing fine.

He will now begin a structured rehabilitation programme under medical supervision.

Doctors expect Jr NTR to make a full recovery and return to his normal routine within two to three months.

When the injury was first reported, his team had assured fans that there was no cause for panic and promised to share further updates about his recovery.

Dragon marks Jr NTR’s collaboration with filmmaker Prashanth Neel, following Neel’s work on the KGF and Salaar franchises.

The film’s title and first glimpse were unveiled on Jr NTR’s birthday in May.

Jr NTR underwent a significant physical transformation for the role and will reportedly play Luger, a ruthless killer involved in the opium trade.

The cast includes Biju Menon, Rukmini Vasanth, Khushbu Sundar, Guru Somasundaram, Rajeev Kanakala, Ashutosh Rana, Anshuman Pushkar and Sidhant Gupta, among others.

Dragon is scheduled to release on 11 June, 2027.

Meanwhile, Jr NTR is also set to reunite with director Trivikram Srinivas after eight years for another upcoming project.

The film is reportedly based on Lord Murugan/Karthikeya and has already generated discussion following its announcement.
