Mahmudul Hasan Joy’s blistering century powered Chattogram to a thumping 99-run win against Sylhet in the National Cricket League on 5 October. The result lifted Chattogram to the top of the points table with four wins from six matches, while Sylhet remained seventh, managing just one victory so far.
After being sent in to bat, Chattogram made a steady start, adding 63 runs for the first wicket before Mominul Haque fell for 32 off 19 balls, attempting a pull off Rejaur Rahman Raja. Shahadat Hossain Dipu (2) and Sadikur Rahman (14) followed soon after, leaving Chattogram 84 for 3.
From there, Joy and Irfan Sukkur rebuilt the innings with a 122-run stand that took the game away from Sylhet. Joy reached his hundred in style, smashing nine sixes and five fours in his 110 off 63 balls before falling in the final over. Sukkur added 41 off 22 balls, while Yasir Ali Rabbi chipped in with 5 as Chattogram closed on 214 for 6 in 20 overs.
Sylhet’s chase never gathered momentum, with wickets tumbling regularly. Amit Hasan top-scored with 40 off 25 balls, while Abu Jayed Rahi’s quick 37 off 25 and Khaled Hasan’s 18 off 13 provided late resistance. However, the team folded for 115 in 18.1 overs.
Mohammad Rubel led the way with 3 for 15, supported by Hasan Murad and Ahmed Sharif with two wickets each.
