Chattogram secured their third victory in four matches with a commanding eight-wicket win over Barishal, driven by standout performances from Mehedi Hasan Rana and Mahmudul Hasan Joy. The result lifts Chattogram to second place in the National Cricket League points table, while Barishal remain at the very bottom.
After losing the toss, Barishal were sent in to bat and could only manage 128 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Opener Rafsan Al Mahmud was the first to fall in the fifth over, scoring 8 runs from 14 balls before being caught at mid-on.
Fellow opener Iftikhar Hossain Ifty provided some resistance with a brisk 33 off 26 deliveries, but was caught behind off the bowling of Rana in the tenth over. Salman Hossain Imon followed soon after, bowled by Hasan Murad for just 6 off 12 balls.
Fazle Mahmud Rabbi was unable to steady the innings, making 26 from 29 balls before being caught at wide long-on. From a solid opening stand of 41, Barishal quickly slumped to 97 for 4, losing four wickets for just 56 runs.
No other batter was able to contribute meaningfully. Sohag Gazi remained unbeaten on 18 from 14 balls, offering a brief late flourish. Rana was the pick of the bowlers for Chattogram, finishing with figures of 3 for 22, while Murad claimed two wickets.
In reply, Chattogram got off to a flying start, posting 43 runs in just 3.3 overs. Mominul Haque struck 22 off 11 balls before he was bowled by Gazi.
Shahadat Hossain Dipu was the only other batter dismissed, bowled by Tanvir Islam for 10 from 12 balls with the score on 66. From there, Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Saikat Ali comfortably guided their side to victory.
Joy played a commanding innings, finishing unbeaten on 78 from just 48 balls, with six fours and five sixes. Saikat Ali supported him well, remaining not out on 23 from 28 deliveries. Chattogram chased down the target in 16.3 overs to secure a convincing win.
