The hearing on the bail petition of journalist Anis Alamgir may take place on Thursday.
A High Court bench comprising Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher is scheduled to hear the petition.
Earlier, on 22 January, Dhaka’s First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court rejected the journalist’s bail plea. He has been in jail since December last year in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Uttara West Police Station in the capital.
On 14 December last year, Anis was taken from Dhanmondi to the office of the Detective Branch of Police (DB) for questioning.
Later, he was shown arrested in the case. On 15 December, he was produced before Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court. That day, his bail petition was rejected, and he was remanded for five days. After the remand ended on 20 December, he was sent to jail.
