Janata Bank PLC marked International Women’s Day on Sunday by honouring female employees through a programme, themed “Today’s steps, tomorrow’s justice: protect the rights of women and girls”, at the bank’s head office in Dhaka.

Janata Bank Chairman M Fazlur Rahman attended the programme as the chief guest while Managing Director Md Mujibur Rahman presided over the event, the lender said in a press release.

In a brief address, Chairman Rahman called for strengthening the physical and mental capabilities of women in Bangladesh and emphasised greater participation in sports.

The bank’s managing director said they offer several special services designed for women.

Deputy managing directors Kazi Abdur Rahman and Md Fayez Alam were present at the programme, which was also attended by female executives and officers of the head office along with other officials of the bank.
