Flourish Garments Bangladesh Co Ltd, a joint venture based in China (Hong Kong), is set to invest $15.34 million for a high-end apparel making facility at the BEPZA Economic Zone in Mirsharai upazila of Chattogram.
The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and Flourish Garments Bangladesh signed an agreement to this end at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka on Sunday, according to a press release.
Md Tanvir Hossain, executive director (investment promotion) of BEPZA, and Han Junxiao, managing director of Flourish Garments Bangladesh, penned the deal for their respective parties.
Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, executive chairman of BEPZA, stood as witness to the signing.
The company plans to annually manufacture about four million pieces of garments, including fleece jackets, soft-shell jackets, down jackets, cotton coats, leather jackets, underwear, T-shirts, polo shirts, shorts, parkas, coats, long pants and ski suits.
The production line will also include jackets, fishing suits, hiking suits, yoga suits, running suits, jeans, knitted shorts, faux leather clothing, deer skin velvet clothing, golf clothing and casual skirts.
The project is expected to generate 1,988 employment opportunities in the country.
At the signing, BEPZA’s executive chairman said they will extend full support to ensure smooth operations at the BEPZA EZ.
He added that BEPZA continues to expand its facilities, developing new zones to attract more foreign investment and strengthen Bangladesh’s export-oriented industrial base.
The signing was also attended by BEPZA Member (engineering) Abdullah Al Mamun, Member (finance) ANM Foyzul Haque, Executive Director (administration) Samir Biswas and Executive Director (public relations) ASM Anwar Parvez, along with other senior officials.
