Janata Bank PLC and Dutch-Bangla Bank (DBBL) PLC have signed an agreement to expand digital payment services by enabling online transactions through the Nexus payment gateway and Rocket platform, aiming to provide customers with faster, safer and more convenient payment solutions.
The agreement was signed at the head office of Janata Bank on Tuesday, with senior officials from both banks attending the ceremony. The deal will integrate Janata Bank’s payment gateway JanataPay with Dutch-Bangla Bank’s Nexus Debit Card, Rocket, Visa card and Mastercard services for online payments.
Janata Bank said in a press release that the initiative is part of its efforts to enhance digital financial services, promote cashless transactions and deliver secure and seamless payment facilities to customers.
The signing ceremony was attended by Janata Bank Chairman Muhammad Fazlur Rahman, CSP, Managing Director Md Mojibor Rahman, Deputy Managing Directors Kazi Abdur Rahman and Md Foyez Alam, along with senior executives from the bank.
Dutch-Bangla Bank was represented by Managing Director and CEO Md Ehteshamul Haque Khan, Deputy Managing Director Md Shahadat Hossain, and other senior officials.
The agreement was signed by Mohammad Anis, General Manager of the ICT Division at Janata Bank, and Abdullah Al Masud, SEVP and Head of the Branch Operations and Liability Division at Dutch-Bangla Bank, on behalf of their respective institutions.
Under the partnership, customers of e-commerce platforms, merchants and service providers connected with JanataPay will be able to complete online transactions through multiple digital payment channels in a simpler and more secure manner.
The banks said the collaboration will contribute to expanding Bangladesh’s digital payment ecosystem while supporting the wider adoption of cashless financial services.
