Meghna Group of Industries (MGI) and the Marketing Alumni Association of the University of Dhaka jointly awarded scholarships to 90 students of the university to encourage talented learners to pursue higher education and support future leadership development.
The scholarship programme was organised at the Nawab Nawab Ali Senate Bhaban of the University of Dhaka on 23 September 2026 under the theme “A Decade of a Shared Journey”, the company said in a press release.
Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan, MP, attended the event as chief guest, while University of Dhaka Vice Chancellor Professor A B M Obaidul Islam, also chief patron of the Marketing Alumni Association, was present.
The event was also attended by MGI Director Barrister Tasnim Mostafa as guest of honour, along with DU Pro Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Abdus Salam, Pro Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane, Marketing Department Chairman Professor Sirajul Haque, Marketing Alumni Association President Professor Ashraful Islam Chowdhury, General Secretary Khandaker Md Rafique Hasan and Vice President Professor Morshed Hasan Khan.
Addressing the event, Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan said financial limitations should not prevent talented and promising students from pursuing higher education.
“It is our shared responsibility to ensure that financial limitations do not prevent talented and promising students from pursuing higher education. The MGI-Marketing Alumni Association Scholarship Programme is a commendable initiative that supports talented and disadvantaged students in continuing their higher education while demonstrating the value of corporate and alumni partnerships in education and human resource development,” he said.
DU Vice Chancellor Professor A B M Obaidul Islam said initiatives supporting students contribute not only to their academic progress but also help develop confidence and leadership skills.
“The MGI-MAA Scholarship Programme is a good example of meaningful engagement between the university, its alumni and the corporate sector,” he said.
Barrister Tasnim Mostafa said investment in education supports not only individual students but also families, society and the country’s future.
“Through the MGI-MAA Scholarship Programme, we want to provide students not only with financial support but also with the confidence to pursue their dreams,” she said, adding that MGI would continue such initiatives as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The programme also featured a special session titled “Beyond Scholarship: Shaping Future Leaders” to inspire students and young people towards future leadership. The session was conducted by MGI Chief Marketing Officer Kazi Md Mohiuddin.
MGI has been working to expand access to education by establishing universities, colleges, schools, madrasas and polytechnic institutes. The group also provides tuition assistance, scholarships, transportation facilities, institutional support and accommodation assistance to students.
