National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary on Tuesday said Jamaat-e-Islami’s political ideology and past actions stand against the spirit of Bangladesh’s independence, its sovereignty, and national spirit, so there is no question of the party returning to state power.
In a verified Facebook post on Tuesday evening, Patwary wrote, “Whenever Jamaat has attempted to return to the stage of history, the people’s collective voice has echoed in resistance. This nation cannot be dragged back into darkness.”
He further said, “We believe in a Bangladesh founded on justice, humanity, and solidarity – where every citizen enjoys rights and freedom of expression. But this freedom cannot serve as a shield for conspiracy.”
“Attempts to infiltrate the administration in disguise, promote divisive politics, or seize the state in the name of religion will no longer succeed on this soil,” he added.
Highlighting unity among the country’s diverse communities, the NCP leader said, “Qawmi, Sunni, Hindu, youth, and progressive people of Bangladesh are now united in a bond to uphold peace, harmony, and humanity.”
Referring to the country’s legacy of struggle and sacrifice, he wrote, “In the land where the blood of martyrs is embedded and the calls for liberation and mass uprising once echoed, divisive politics will never find space. Our responsibility is not only to resist but to protect – the map of Bangladesh, the dignity of Islam, and the honour of our scholars.”
Patwary also said, “Yet we seek a politics of humanity, not hatred. For those who have strayed, our doors remain open so they may return to a Bangladesh of democracy, justice, and free thought.”
Concluding his statement, the NCP chief coordinator said, “This country belongs to none of enmity – it is a nation of coexistence, mutual respect, and a shared call toward a new future.”
