Bangladesh and the World Health Organisation (WHO) have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in the field of health diplomacy and public health development.
Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to the Maldives Dr Md Nazmul Islam paid a courtesy call on WHO Country Representative Ms Payden on Monday.
The meeting took place in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, focusing on expanding collaboration in the Maldives’ ongoing health sector reforms and sharing Bangladesh’s experience in public health improvement.
Both the sides emphasised the importance of ensuring effective healthcare services and welfare measures for Bangladeshi expatriate workers in the Maldives.
They also underscored the need to strengthen institutional coordination in the prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
They also discussed the prospects of organising joint initiatives such as health diplomacy dialogues, awareness programmes, seminars, exhibitions, and special events.
They have hoped these initiatives are expected to be implemented through the joint efforts of the Bangladesh High Commission, the WHO, and the Maldives government.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both the sides reiterated their shared commitment to maintaining regular institutional contact and fostering mutual cooperation to advance the goals of health diplomacy.
