Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, paid tribute at the National Memorial in Savar on the occasion of the Independence and National Day.
He visited the memorial at 6am on Thursday along with party leaders.
At the site, the opposition leader offered prayers to Almighty Allah, seeking forgiveness for the souls of the martyrs of the Liberation War. He also prayed for peace, prosperity and welfare of the country.
Among those present were Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer ATM Azharul Islam, Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Parwar, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Central Executive Council member and Dhaka South Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, Central Executive Council member Mobarak Hossain, Central Executive Council member and Dhaka South Secretary Shafiqul Islam Masud, Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam, Central Majlis-e-Shura member and Dhaka South Assistant Secretary Mohammad Kamal Hossain and Central Majlis-e-Shura member and Dhaka District Jamaat Ameer Maulana Delwar Hossain.
