A delegation of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leaders held a meeting with visiting UK Trade Envoy Baroness Rosie Winterton at the British High Commission in Dhaka on Monday. Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Professor Mujibur Rahman led the six-member delegation in the meeting.
During the meeting, they discussed Bangladesh’s current political situation, the upcoming national election, and the overall progress in trade and business – particularly in the garments, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, education, and economic development sectors.
The meeting also focused on the UK’s potential role in boosting investment in Bangladesh and further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
Both sides also discussed the vital role of women in Bangladesh’s economic development and explored opportunities to enhance their participation, especially in the handicraft and cottage industries.
Jamaat delegates include Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand, Mobarak Hossain, Syeda Rumman, Advocate Sabikun Nahar Muni and Dr Shahana Parvin.
