Jamaat-e-Islami leader Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand held a meeting with Singapore’s High Commissioner Derek Loh Eu-Tse to discuss the current political and economic situation in Bangladesh.

According to a press release from the party’s publicity wing, the meeting took place at a hotel in Dhaka on Monday.

Akand is a member of Jamaat-e-Islami Central Executive Council and secretary of the party’s central publicity and media division.

Mitchell Lee, Chargé d’Affaires of the Singapore High Commission, and Tai Dai Ern, country director for South Asia, were present at the meeting.

During the meeting, they discussed a wide range of topics, including the current political and economic situation in Bangladesh, trade and industry, the upcoming national parliamentary elections, state reforms, and the PR (proportional representation) system.
