Officer‑in‑charge (OC) of Senbagh Police Station Md Abdur Rahim Sarkar has been withdrawn and attached to the district police lines.
Inspector (Investigation) Hazrat Ali Milon is now serving as acting OC.
Noakhali Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Ahmed Payer confirmed the matter on Sunday.
He said the OC was withdrawn over the incident of attending a feast at someone’s house. An investigation is underway and a report has been sought.
Police sources said questions arose over the OC’s role during a procession at Bottola Bazar in Kabirpur union by leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organisations on Friday night.
Allegations also surfaced that the OC attended a feast hosted at the Bataniya village home of Awami League leader and Chattogram businessman Shahjahan Khokon.
Inspector (Investigation) of Senbagh Police Station Hazrat Ali Milon, who was in charge after the OC’s withdrawal, said: “The OC left on Saturday evening after being withdrawn. I do not know the reason for the withdrawal.”
He added that following the procession of Awami League activists, a case was filed under the Anti‑Terrorism Act at the police station on Saturday.
Five activists of Chhatra League and Jubo League were arrested in connection with the case, while another 30 to 35 unidentified individuals were also made accused.
