At least 10 police personnel fell ill and lost consciousness after having dinner at Patikabari police camp in Kushtia on Saturday night.
Faisal Mahmud, Kushtia Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops), confirmed the incident on Sunday afternoon.
The police personnel were rescued and admitted to Kushtia Medical College Hospital. Camp In-charge (IC) Moniruzzaman and ASI Shariful Islam were among those affected.
According to police, the officers fell ill one after another after dinner at the Sadar Patikabari police camp. Several became unconscious and were admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
A duty doctor said the ailing personnel were under intensive observation and receiving necessary medical care.
Kushtia Superintendent of Police Aminul Islam visited the Patikabari police camp following the incident.
According to Kushtia Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Faisal Mahmud, food poisoning is suspected, but the exact cause remains unconfirmed.
