Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has claimed that the upcoming national election will be transparent, participatory, and free from the influence of muscle power, allowing genuinely elected public representatives to emerge.
He warned that citizens would firmly resist any attempt at vote manipulation.
Shafiqur Rahman made the remarks on Saturday while addressing a conference at the Nesarabad Madrasa ground in Jhalakathi.
“The upcoming election will create new history in the country,” he said, cautioning that any effort at vote engineering or polling centre takeovers would face a strong public response.
He added that Jamaat would continue its fight against oppression, fascism, and attempts to divide the nation, urging all forces to unite in support of Islam, without fear of intimidation.
Charmonai Pir Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, attending as a special guest, said If Islamic political parties unite and contest the upcoming election collectively, they could rewrite the nation’s political history.
Other speakers included Khalafaat Majlis Ameer Maulana Abdul Basid Azad, National Citizen Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhter Hossen, Secretary General of the AB Party Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, and BNP Central Committee’s Religious Affairs Secretary Rafiqul Islam Jamal.
Speakers said unity among Islamic parties could secure victory in the next national election, stressing that the country’s future path would be determined by the people and those who uphold Islamic values.
The conference, presided over by Maulana Khalilur Rahman of the Nesarabad Darbar Sharif, drew thousands of attendees and was held on the second day of the Darbar Sharif’s annual Waz Mahfil.
