Dr Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, held a courtesy meeting with a delegation of leading Bangladeshi industrialists at the party’s office in Basundhara, Dhaka.
The meeting, held on Sunday, 14th September, provided a platform for discussions on the country’s industrial and commercial prospects, investment opportunities, and ways to strengthen collaboration between the business community and political leadership.
The delegation comprised Square Group Manazing Director (MD) Tapan Chowdhury, President of BGMEA Mahmud Hasan Khan, President of BKMEA Mohammad Hatem, President of Bangladesh Employers’ Federation Fazlee Shamim Ehsan, Director of BGMEA Saifullah Mansur, Chairman of BGMEA’s One-Stop service Mozammal Hoque Bhuiyan and Chairman of its Public Relations and Promotion Committee Masud Kabir. Also in attendance were Jamaat’s Industry and Commerce Wing President Shahidul Islam, Secretary General Anwarul Azim and physician Dr Khaliduzzaman.
The meeting focused on the prospects of Bangladesh’s industrial and commercial sectors, new investment opportunities, the business environment, and contemporary challenges, with particular emphasis on the Labour Act 2025. The industrialists appealed to all political parties to ensure stability in factories and extend comprehensive support for the country’s industries.
Responding to the delegation, Amir Shafiqur Rahman highlighted the need to strengthen worker-employer relations to safeguard industries and maintain economic stability. He also expressed his gratitude to the industrialists for their visit and for inquiring after his well-being.
