Nazrul Islam Majumder, jailed chair of the NASSA Group, has been shown arrested in the Abu Bakar Rifat murder case filed with Jatrabari Police Station.
On Wednesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman passed the order, approving the request of the case’s investigating officer Deputy Inspector of Police Md Jewel Rana. State counsel Qayum Hossain Nayon confirmed the matter.
According to the case documents, Abu Bakar Rifat participated in the July movement on 5 August last year. He was shot around noon that day and taken to a hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
In connection with the killing, the victim’s father, Awlad Hossain, filed a murder case with Jatrabari Police Station on 28 January this year.
Earlier 3 November, Nazrul was shown arrested in the Sabuj murder case at Gulshan Police Station.
He was previously detained from Gulshan in the capital on 1 October last year by a team of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) police.
