Five members of the same family were killed and at least three others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday.
The accident occurred around 11am in the Hanser Dighi Dhala area under Fasiakhali Union on the Cox’s Bazar–Chattogram Highway.
Local sources said all the victims belonged to the same family.
The deceased are: Enamul Haque Uday, his wife and his mother-in-law, Rumi and Sadia.
Malumghat Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mehedi Hasan confirmed the incident.
He said the victims were from Cumilla. Members of the army and locals rescued the injured and took them to Chakaria Hospital, from where doctors later referred two university students in critical condition to Chattogram.
