International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Le Méridien Dhaka to strengthen collaboration between academia and the hospitality industry through practical learning, industry engagement and career development opportunities.
The agreement, signed at Le Méridien Dhaka, aims to develop skilled and globally competitive hospitality professionals by providing students of IUBAT’s College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM) with internship opportunities, industry training, experiential learning, research collaboration and career development initiatives, said a press release.
The MoU was signed as part of a strategic framework for long-term cooperation between the two institutions, with a focus on bridging classroom learning and real-world hospitality practices through exposure to international industry standards.
Representing IUBAT at the signing ceremony were Professor Dr Abdur Rab, Vice Chancellor; Professor Dr Md Momtazur Rahman, Registrar; and Dr Mohammad Badruddoza Talukder, Chairman of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM), along with faculty members and university officials.
Le Méridien Dhaka was represented by Constantinos S Gavriel, General Manager; Emamul Haque, Director of Human Resources; and other members of the hotel’s senior management team.
Both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to promoting excellence in hospitality education and preparing graduates to meet the evolving demands of the global tourism and hospitality industry through stronger industry–academia collaboration.
The partnership is expected to create opportunities for students while supporting professional development, innovation and industry-oriented education in Bangladesh’s hospitality sector.
