Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has been taken into custody by Delhi Police while participating in a protest directed against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.

Earlier in the day, he denounced the administration, describing current conditions as “worse than Emergency” amidst a security lockdown across central Delhi aimed at stopping the CJP demonstration and following the detention of the group’s key leadership.

On Friday, Kejriwal announced that he and his family would participate in the protest, calling upon young people to join the rally demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar over accusations of “vote theft”, reports Times of India.

Following the apprehension of CJP leaders earlier in the morning, Kejriwal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi proved he was “scared” by detaining “cockroaches” on their flight.
