Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC has introduced digital services to facilitate Hajj and Umrah savings and streamline charitable donations through online platforms, allowing customers to manage religious contributions and savings from home.

The bank said the services include Mudaraba Hajj Savings Account, Mudaraba Umrah Savings Scheme and a Digital Donation Box that enables donations through QR code payments and mobile banking applications.

Under the Hajj savings programme, customers can open a Mudaraba Hajj Savings Account for a term ranging from one to 25 years to gradually accumulate funds required for performing Hajj.

The account allows customers to determine monthly instalments based on their financial capacity and preferred savings period, helping them prepare for expenses such as visa processing, airfare, accommodation and other travel costs.

Customers who decide to perform Hajj before completing the predetermined term can do so by depositing the remaining required amount together with the savings already accumulated in the account.

The bank also offers a Mudaraba Umrah Savings Scheme that allows customers to deposit instalments over one to 12 years to build funds for Umrah.

Individuals aged 18 years or above can open the accounts in their own name, while parents or legal guardians can open them on behalf of minors.

Profit is paid under the mudaraba system in both schemes, the bank said.

The bank has also introduced a Digital Donation Box that enables customers to make charitable contributions by scanning QR codes using banking and mobile financial service applications, including Cellfin.

The system allows donations to mosques, orphanages, Lillah boarding houses and other charitable institutions, while ensuring instant transaction confirmation and confidentiality of donors.

Monthly instalments for savings schemes and donation payments can also be automated through Cellfin, internet banking or instructions provided at branches or agent outlets, according to the bank.
