In recent hours, the United States announced that Iran’s capacity to threaten the Strait of Hormuz has been “degraded” following American airstrikes this week on an underground weapons depot housing cruise missiles and other arms.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported carrying out extensive overnight strikes on dozens of sites in Tehran, while Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had targeted air bases in Kuwait and the UAE allegedly used by US and Israeli forces.
Tehran also said that its nuclear facility at Natanz was struck earlier on Saturday, BBC reports.
Separately, reports revealed that Iran launched two missiles at the joint US-UK base on Diego Garcia, this occurred before Britain announced expanded American access to UK bases last night.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Keir Starmer assured Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides that RAF Akrotiri would not participate in US operations against Iran — a statement made just days after Christodoulides described British bases on the island as “colonial.”
