The International Crimes Tribunal‑1 has fixed 7 January to hold a hearing on the framing of charges for crimes against humanity against Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the information and technology adviser to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
Meanwhile, the ICT‑1 will hold a hearing on 22 December in another case filed against Salman F Rahman, former adviser to the deposed PM Sheikh Hasina, and former law minister Anisul Huq.
The two‑member bench of the ICT‑1, headed by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mojumder, set the dates after holding hearings in the cases on Wednesday. The other member of the tribunal is Justice Md Shofiul Alam Mahmood.
Earlier, on 4 December, the tribunal took cognisance of the charges against Joy and Palak, as well as against Salman and Anisul. An arrest warrant was also issued for Joy that day. The remaining three accused have been shown arrested in the case for crimes against humanity during the July mass uprising last year.
The cases against Joy and Palak are being tried together in the tribunal. Three charges have been brought against them. In the other case, five charges have been brought against Salman and Anisul Huq.
