The International Crimes Tribunal-2 on Tuesday ordered jail authorities to produce Maj Gen (relieved) Ziaul Ahsan and former Rab officer Lt Col Tareque Sayeed Mohammad before it on 10 August in two separate cases involving allegations of enforced disappearance and extrajudicial killings.
The tribunal issued the order on 4 August following a petition by the prosecution, which sought to show the two former officers as arrested in the cases while investigations continue.
Prosecutor Shyikh Mahdi said one of the cases relates to the alleged extrajudicial killings of three BNP leaders from Lakshmipur — Abdul Mannan, Johirul Islam Sumon and Asaduzzaman Babul on 15 December 2013.
The other case concerns the alleged enforced disappearance of two BNP leaders from Laksam in Cumilla — Saiful Islam Hiru and Humayun Kabir Parvez on 27 November 2013.
Investigations into both cases are currently underway. The prosecution requested that Ziaul Ahsan and Tareque Sayeed be shown as arrested in the cases, leading the tribunal to order their production on 10 August.
