Litton Das spoke about his long-term T20I captaincy on Sunday. He shared his thoughts before Bangladesh begin their series against New Zealand national cricket team.
The decision to extend his captaincy was made earlier this month by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. This was his first time speaking about it in public.
“To be honest, there hasn’t been much discussion. They made the decision. They felt I was capable. I will try to do my job. The way the team prepared for the 2026 World Cup, the preparation will remain similar. Of course, there is still enough time.”
Bangladesh did not play in the 2026 T20 World Cup. Litton was still leading the side during that time. The new deal means he will lead the team until the 2028 tournament.
He also spoke about his batting in T20 cricket.
“At the same time, you have to play with an aggressive mindset. And when you play aggressively, sometimes you will fail. So in T20 format, it is normal to accept that you will fail at times and succeed at times. That is how it goes.”
Litton talked about his role as a wicketkeeper as well.
“Since I am keeping in all three formats, I have gained more experience. Earlier, I used to field in T20s and ODIs, and keep in Tests. But now I am not always sure about my exact position and role. I always try to give one hundred percent.”
He also looked at his recent form with the bat.
“From a batting point of view, one good thing is that in the last two series, I may not have scored big runs, but I was able to spend a good amount of time at the crease. That is a positive. Since the format is different, the more time you spend, the more runs will come. I will try to maintain that consistency.”
