Measles cases in the country are rising at an alarming rate. Eight people died from measles in the last 24 hours.
Of them, seven deaths were suspected cases and one was confirmed as measles-related. Since 15 March, total deaths have reached 259, including 216 suspected and 43 confirmed cases.
According to the latest health bulletin issued by the Health Directorate’s Integrated Control Centre, the total number of suspected measles cases across the country since 15 March 2026 has reached 32,028. In the last 24 hours alone, 1,421 new suspected cases were reported.
During the same period, 143 confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total confirmed infections to 4,603.
The highest death toll has been reported in Dhaka Division. In the last 24 hours, five suspected and one confirmed measles patient died in the division. So far, Dhaka Division has recorded 102 suspected and 28 confirmed deaths, making it the worst-affected region.
Regional data shows that in the last 24 hours, Dhaka Division recorded 684 suspected cases and 91 confirmed cases. In other divisions, 244 suspected cases were reported in Rajshahi, 189 in Chattogram, and 109 in Barishal.
Hospital pressure remains highest in Dhaka. In the last 24 hours, 404 new patients were admitted there. So far, 21,434 patients have received hospital treatment nationwide, while 17,955 have recovered and returned home.
Meanwhile, the government’s National Measles-Rubella Vaccination Programme 2026 is ongoing to control the situation. Since its launch on 5 April 2026, a total of 73,76,995 people have been vaccinated nationwide, reaching 99 percent of the target.
In the last 24 hours alone, 10,60,593 people received vaccination. Dhaka South City Corporation and Chattogram have achieved 101 percent coverage, exceeding their targets.
