The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations under the Chattogram Education Board have been suspended until 16 July across all districts due to heavy rainfall, deteriorating flood conditions and adverse weather.
Prime Minister’s Adviser on Education, Primary and Mass Education Mahdi Amin announced the decision at a press briefing on Saturday, saying it was taken after consultations with Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon and the deputy commissioners of the affected districts.
The Chattogram Education Board covers five districts – Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachhari.
Earlier, examinations scheduled for 11 July under the board were postponed due to worsening weather conditions and the deteriorating flood situation.
The board said a revised schedule for the postponed examinations would be announced later.
In a special notice, the board asked officials in charge of examination centres to inform students and guardians about the suspension through loudspeaker announcements, as many areas have been experiencing power outages due to the ongoing disaster situation.
