Akij Resource has redefined corporate digitalisation in Bangladesh by transforming its entire workplace into a paperless, desk-free ecosystem through its in-house platform, PeopleDesk.
The system enables all official tasks to be performed digitally — from attendance and workflow tracking to finance, procurement, and compliance — without the need for paper or physical desks.
At a media workshop titled “From Conventional to Smart: Digital Transformation Leads the Way for Akij Resource,” held at Akij House in Tejgaon on Wednesday, the conglomerate showcased its full-scale digital transformation journey.
The event demonstrated how Akij’s digital-first approach has unified over 100,000 employees, 35,000 channel partners, 8,000 suppliers serving 9 million customers under one connected network spanning 12 business clusters.
Speaking at the event, iBOS Limited CEO Sk Md Jayed Bin Rashid said PeopleDesk has made it possible for Akij Resource to operate entirely paperlessly.
“With this transformation, Akij Resource is not just digitising its internal systems — it’s shaping the future of Bangladesh’s enterprise ecosystem,” he said.
The session was conducted by Chief Business Development Officer Towfique Hasan and attended by Chief Digital and Innovation Officer Engr Md Firoz Kabir, AKIJ Infotech Blue CEO GM Kamrul Hassan, and AKIJ iBOS Chief Sales Officer Shahed Iqbal.
Company officials said PeopleDesk serves as both a digital HR platform and a real-time operational companion, powered by AI-based tracking, analytics, and automation.
Employees primarily use mobile phones instead of laptops to manage tasks, communicate, and collaborate within Akij’s integrated ecosystem. Through this system, one lakh employees serve nine million consumers via ten lakh retailers nationwide, supported by AI-driven processes.
Akij Resource has also introduced Industry 4.0-based automation, API-driven banking integration, and finance and regulatory compliance automation. These initiatives have made the organisation’s operations fully data-driven and transparent.
The company’s proprietary ERP system processed Tk 533 billion in transactions this year, eliminating almost all cheque-based payments.
Its 400 in-house engineers, working across five technology subsidiaries, have developed most of Akij’s software, data integration tools, and cloud infrastructure tailored for Bangladeshi business needs and scalable to international markets.
Officials said all systems are connected through a secure intranet, ensuring uninterrupted operation even during internet outages.
To strengthen information security, Akij Resource has implemented a Zero Trust Architecture, AI-driven threat detection, and a governance-grade audit system.
The company is now preparing to launch a digital bank and a cloud data centre as part of its next growth phase.
“Mobile and cloud-first — that’s our motto,” said a senior official, adding that Akij Resource plans to create one million new jobs through its expanding digital ventures while advancing automation and AI capabilities.
Industry experts at the event said Akij Resource’s large-scale digital transformation represents a landmark for Bangladesh’s private sector, offering a model of innovation, governance, and collaboration that supports the nation’s goal of becoming a smart, technology-driven economy.
